Cathedral Choir form group for Friends

The choir at Tredegar House Christmas 2008

There is a considerable amount of support for and interest in the work of Newport Cathedral Choir, both locally and nationally. Widely recognised for its excellence, it is seen as a beacon of church music in Wales and beyond. The musical, spiritual and educational benefits to generations of Newport boys, from the most diverse family backgrounds, has been inestimable.

The time has come for an organisation of
Friends of Newport Cathedral Choir (FNCC)
to be founded, and a steering committee has been working hard to make this vision a reality.

A number of most distinguished men and women have kindly agreed to be Vice Presidents of FNCC. Their names will be announced at the Inaugural Meeting which will be Sunday, 18th October, (St Luke’s Day, and by happy coincidence the anniversary of the foundation of the diocese on Monmouth).

Everyone is welcome to attend: if you are able to notify
the Acting Hon Secretary, Mr John Granger T:01633 769684
or the Hon Chairman, Mr Christopher Barton T:01633 266708
beforehand, it would help greatly with making the catering arrangements, but advance notification of attendance is not essential.

Programme on Sunday 18th Oct:
2.30 Informal concert by the choristers
3.15 Inaugural meeting of the FNCC
4.30 Cream Tea
