Blessing the Horses in Henllys

I first met Revd Susan Johnson when she asked to borrow a donkey for the Palm Sunday service at St Peter's in 2008. Alex, our little black pony, was the next best thing so Megan, who lives opposite the Church, dressed as Jesus and rode Alex up the path, into the Church and down the aisle, leading the rather surprised congregation for the Palm Sunday Procession. They were a brilliant pair! Alex even whinnied at the most appropriate point during the service. He could sense something very special was going on.
Full of fun and blessed with more than a little sense on mischief, Susan has led us in some innovative events. For the Plough Sunday service, Rose's family brought their plough, beautifully cleaned, and laid it at the altar, with sacks of seed from the local farmers to be blessed ready for sowing.
Susan initiated the Horse Blessing service in May, in St Peter's Church car park, followed by fun rides to both The Dorralt and The Lamb. She thoroughly enjoyed sploshing us all with Holy Water, which certainly gave the horses something to think about!
Susan has been a great comfort to those in distress, ministering to the sick and infirm at home, in hospital or hospice care. We are all very grateful to her for spending so much of her spare time looking after us all. We wish her well in the future and hope she thoroughly enjoys her next post.
