No Room at the Inn …
...that nearly was the call on December 22nd when the village of Wyllie held their Christmas carol service at the Islwyn Inn. People were coming in with nowhere to sit and no room to put any more chairs either. The bar was full to capacity with people ranging from the age of 8 months to 80+ years. The carol service was one of traditional readings. Almost all the readers were from the village. Carols old and new were sung with the 'Mighty Sound' band leading. We were treated to a rendering of Pie Jesu and Ave Maria sung by the two young people in the band. A very lively and modern quiz was entered into by all with the winners of each correct answer being treated to a handful of sweets. The very successful evening was rounded off with all the usual Christmas eats and tea and coffee and of course the bar was open for those who wanted something a little stronger to drink.
