logoLlandaff & Monmouth Diocesan Association of Church Bellringers Bell Restoration Fund

The Llandaff & Monmouth Diocesan Association of Church Bellringers Bell Restoration Fund exists to help parishes in both dioceses with the care and maintenance of their bells. The Fund is able to give grants or loans towards both bells hung for ringing and bells hung for chiming and can also give assistance towards bell frames and associated fittings. The Restoration Fund was very active in 2008, including a grant of £1500 toward the rehanging of the bells at St Augustine, Rumney, Cardiff, which was very much appreciated by the parish. The Rumney ringers (all members of the Association) provided the labour for the project which considerably reduced the overall cost. As well as providing grants towards the restoration of bells, the Association can also provide advice and guidance as to the maintenance and general upkeep of bells and their associated fittings.

The Association can also provide help with re-homing bells from churches that have become redundant or where the bells are no longer wanted. For example, in 2008 the Association facilitated the removal of a single bell from the former church of St James the Great, Cardiff, and its subsequent installation at Coychurch. The Association is currently aware of a redundant ring of six bells which it would very much like to re-home within South Wales. If any parish is interested in acquiring a ring of bells then please contact the General Secretary of the Association (contact details below).

If any parish is thinking of undertaking work to its bells and would like to find out more about the Bell Restoration Fund or the work of the Association, then please do contact the General Secretary of the Assocation:
