Chepstow gifts help homeless young

Last Christmas St Mary’s Priory and Parish Church, Chepstow and
St Christopher’s Church, Bulwark, donated the collection from the Christmas Eve Carol Service to Solas, a unique provider of accommodation and support services for homeless young people, adults and families. The Monmouthshire Accommodation Scheme has two properties, situated in central Chepstow and Abergavennyl.

This Christmas the parish went one step further and donated small gifts of toiletries, hats, scarves, gloves, jewellery and chocolate for the nine young residents at the home in Chepstow. The response was overwhelming, with the Lions Club also donating nine carrier bags of food which had been collected from members of the public. A week before Christmas, the Revd Chris Blanchard and John Gale delivered the carrier bags of food and twenty shoe boxes, each wrapped in Christmas paper, filled with gifts, plus many chocolate delights and £100 in cash. The staff at Solas were so grateful for the generosity and kindness shown and said the cash would be used to provide a Christmas Dinner for the young people who had no home to go to on Christmas Day.
