The Mothers Union braves the elements

August is the time when most County and Local Shows are held and we thought this would be an opportunity for the Diocese Marketing Unit to inform a wider audience about our Worldwide work in helping families.

We booked a stand at the Chepstow Show—which seemed a good idea at the time! My family and I duly arrived before 8am to set up our stand. We had our display boards, tables and leaflets, all protected from the elements by a kindly-lent Gazebo. Unfortunately, the wind and the rain not only kept the crowds away, they also drove us away when the struggle to keep the gazebo tethered, and us and our gear dry, proved to be too unequal a struggle. In company with many others we had to retreat at lunch time. But, who knows, perhaps the few we talked to will be more informed about us than they were and they may even share their findings.
