The Dean Came to Dinner

Towards the end of last year the Rectorial Benefice of Cyncoed responded to the call to raise funds for the St Woolos Cathedral Roof Appeal. We formed a committee under the Chairmanship of David Webber and decided to put on a Benefice Dinner. We decided to do all the catering ourselves to maximize funds. We staged the Dinner at Pontprennau Community Church (part of the Benefice).

Eighty eight people sat down to dinner on Saturday June 7th. The menu was Chicken Marengo, home made desserts, cheese and biscuits and tea/coffee and mints. Each Church group was responsible for one course. We had a raffle (prizes donated by local companies) after the Dinner and then finished the evening with a speech from our invited guest, the Dean of Monmouth.

We raised in excess of £3000.
