Deanery of Raglan and Usk

The Deanery Confirmation Service held at St Peter’s Goetre on May 16th concluded Bishop Dominic’s week-long visit to the Deanery of Raglan and Usk.

The newly-confirmed, are (l to r) Carl Pocknell (Goetre) Antonia Pocknell (Goetre), Angharad Gwillym (Bettws Newydd), Suzanne Williams (Trostrey), Russell Walker (Llanover), Alison Williams (Trostrey), Jane Harry (Raglan) & Walter Saunder (Bryngwyn). Carl and Antonia were baptised during the service before being confirmed.

Grosmont Group of Parishes

The Bishop confirmed ten candidates from the Grosmont Group of parishes in St. Bridget's Church, Skenfrith.

The Bishop told the candidates, "Candidates are usually adults, so it is a great joy to confirm young people who are prepared to stand up for Jesus at a time when it is not cool to believe and it is not cool to go to church."

The candidates were prepared by the Revd Dr Jean Prosser, assisted by Ms Louise Minford and Mrs Sally Tyler. Around 180 family and friends, including a group of young people from Ewyas Harold Baptist Church youth group, filled the church for the service. The music was lead by Grosmont Church choir and the organist, Mr David Phillips of Garway.
