Passiontide Journey at Magor

St Mary’s, Magor, hosted a Passiontide Journey devised and set up by Pam Richards, the Diocesan Youth Officer. This ‘journey’ allowed people of all ages to experience the events of Holy Week and Easter Day in a multi-sensory way as they travelled around twelve ‘stations’. At each station there was an opportunity to listen, to think, to pray and at some to light a candle, taste the bitter cup, wash their hands, write a prayer, make a symbol of freedom, place a stone at the foot of the cross, etc.

Printed booklets and ‘Walkmans’ were available to guide the people around the journey, both very professionally produced and thought-provoking. As well as many adults, older children from both the local schools took part and some of them found it a very moving experience which greatly enhanced their understanding of Jesus’ passion, death and resurrection.

If your church has not yet experienced one of these Spiritual Journeys I would recommend that you seriously consider booking one. (Contact Pam Richards) They speak to people in a very different way from our normal Sunday services and offer an ideal opportunity for people to deepen their understanding of what the Christian faith is all about.
