Good Friday Pilgrimage to Redwick
The day started with two simultaneous prayer breakfasts, one at Goldcliff and the other at Undy. The two groups later met at Magor Church, those from Goldcliff travelling by car and those from Undy walking the shorter distance carrying a wooden cross.
At Magor, the groups were joined by more people from Magor itself for a ‘Stations of the Cross’ service, which was aimed at youngsters.
A crowd then set off to carry the cross to Redwick. Initially, the cross was carried in ‘traditional’ manner by a single person. Later, as the cross apparently became heavier, it was carried horizontally at the balance point. And still later, it was carried by two or three people simultaneously; a great team effort.
At Redwick, the crowd who had walked from Magor was joined by those who had come by car for the ‘Last Hour at the Cross’ service.
