Palm Sunday confirmations
As the church joined in Palm Sunday ‘Hosannas’ to greet Jesus as he rode into Jerusalem, twenty Christians in the diocese took their own decisive step on the journey of faith as they confirmed their baptism promises in front of the Bishop and their congregations.
At St Mary's Church, Panteg, the bishop confirmed (l to r) John Harris, Diane Boughay, Olivia Harvey, Rhiannon Harvey, and Don Harvey.
Canon Jennifer Mole is the incumbent.
At St Teilo's Church, Llantilio Pertholey, the Bishop confirmed fifteen candidates. Several of the candidates were baptised before their confirmation. Nine of the children are Year 6 pupils at Llantilio Pertholey Church in Wales Primary School. Their head teacher, David Evans, read the lesson.
Candidates were Joseph Ashton, Megan Davies, Jac Evans, Luke Gumery, Owain Jones, Katie Lewis, Tony Meredith, Alys Le Moignan, Lloyd Pocknell, Valmai Powell, Kelsea and Joe Richardson, Libby, Josh and Wil Smith.
The Bishop brought a cheery note to the service with his three stories which made everyone laugh, but also had a moral behind them. The service closed with a rousing rendition of Shine, Jesus, Shine, one of the children's favourite hymns, and was followed by delicious refreshments provided by the women of the church and the parents.
