Easter Morning on the Blorenge
Sixty parishioners from Raglan and Usk braved the elements to greet the dawn with a 'Service of Light' on Easter Day.
The Blorenge still had a covering of snow on the grass from the previous day. The wind at that altitude was gale force and with wind chill the temperature felt like -10C. We were getting towards the end of our service when the first snow flakes began to fall. By 6.30am the snow was driving horizontally across the car park. Warm hot cross buns and coffee were served but most folk ate them very quickly in order to get their cars off the mountain before the snow covered the track completely.
It was so different from last year when the sun rose clear and bright over the Eastern Hills, but it was equally memorable. It felt good to sing our Lord Jesus' praises at the top of our voices and to shout:
'The Lord has Risen. He is risen indeed'.
