Area Deans Confer at Llangasty

On a cold and frosty morning in February, I gathered with my fellow Area Deans at Llangasty Retreat House, together with the Bishop and Archdeacons for our first ever residential Conference. Over two days we shared together ways in which the role of Area Dean has developed and looked at implementing the Diocesan strategy.

Canon Ambrose Mason, Diocesan Director of Ministry, led a discussion on supporting the clergy in the development of their ministry in the church today. Canon Peter Sedgwick, the Principal of St Michael’s College Llandaff, addressed us on the loss of belief in the modern world and the variety of ways that people approach spirituality in the twenty-first century. His talks were extremely stimulating and provoked much debate.

We enjoyed the fellowship of worshipping together and sharing meals while looking out at the birds on Llangorse Lake. All of us found it a very helpful and energising Conference which has helped in developing the ministry to which we have been called.
