Parish websites - free offer!
Is your parish or benefice thinking of having its own website? Are you wondering where to start? Help is at hand!
Our diocese is taking part in a Church in Wales scheme to be launched at the April Governing Body.
This will enable anyone with a computer, online access, and a password issued to the parish or group of parishes, to enter information into a form and see it turned into a professionally-designed website.
The design will be based on that of the new provincial and diocesan sites so it will meet the guidelines for accessibilty by those who are visually imapired. Headings will cover church ethos, services, activities, history, and information. Some details will be mandatory and some optional, allowing lots of flexibility within the common look. The websites will be hosted by the Church in Wales and will cost nothing to the parishes - the diocese has paid the development fee.

The new diocesan website was launched in June 2007. and is still growing, (though not as quickly as I would like!) Do keep an eye, not just on the home page but on the home pages of each section. The ‘Admin & Info’ section is intended to give information and links to help PCCs with the management of land and buildings. ‘People and Places’ is where you will find contact information.

The website has the potential for different people to take responsibility for particular sections using a computer programme which allows them to input material without needing to know anything about website programming or design. This could be of interest to deaneries as well as diocesan groups and committees.
