Rudry Kids' Club

had a very bracing walk to the top of Rudry Common to celebrate Ascension Day. We finished a fun evening of games and discussion with a feast of sausages cooked to perfection.

By One, Get One Free at the Summer Festival, Portskewett

Planning a summer festival seemed like a good idea at the time, it was cold and miserable and it was January. Then the time came and it was cold and wet and it was June but we weren’t miserable. The ‘I am’ Spiritual Journey in St. Mary’s was complemented by a tastefully arranged flower festival. There were cream teas and local strawberries on the vicarage lawn, with live music, a balloon race and much, much more. The rain held off just long enough on both Thursday and Friday mornings for the 120 junior children of Archbishop Rowan Williams school, the class teachers and the head teacher, to do the ‘journey’ in church. The comments of the children in the visitor’s book tell it all! The event was opened by Archdeacon Glyndwr and many visitors came and braved the elements, encountering God in and through the ‘journey’, in the pleasant and peaceful surroundings of St Mary’s church.
