PART FOUR: THE NEXT STEPS—FROM VISION TO REALITY
4.4 What the diocese plans to do
-
We shall introduce regular Ministry Reviews for all active clergy in 2006.
-
We shall focus on Stewardship for our Diocesan Conference in 2006.
-
We are providing a home grown Lent Course for 2006.
-
[A course available on DVD has been produced by the Revd John Leach and will be publicised in the autumn 2005 .]
-
We hope to welcome the Bishop of the Highveld, David Beetge and his wife Carol to the diocese in June 2006.
-
We shall establish a Vocations Fellowship for those who are considering a call to lay and ordained ministries.
-
We shall set up a training partnership with St Michael's College, Llandaff, so that the college will provide the training of our stipendiary, non-stipendiary priests, local deacons and readers.[The training will be delivered at Llandaff and locally in the Diocese. We also expect to continue to provide courses from Lampeter.]
-
We shall review the progress being made to implement Deanery Mission Plans.
-
[We have broadly approved the Deanery Mission Plans and are most grateful for the time and effort that has been given to them. In implementing some of them, for pastoral or logistical reasons, it will be necessary to do so in two stages rather than one, so in some cases temporary, part-time or house-for-duty appointments will be made. ]
-
We shall encourage a ‘cascading’ model of accountability and encouragement for those in leadership.
-
We shall continue to provide stipendiary clergy, and identify ‘training parishes’ for newly ordained deacons. [Deaneries were advised early in 2004 of the number of stipendiary posts that was considered to be affordable. The Diocese will fund assistant curates but those Deaneries proposing an increase in their allocation will be asked to pay the full costs for those posts after 2013.]
