PART FOUR: THE NEXT STEPS—FROM VISION TO REALITY

4.2 What the deaneries can do

  • Some may need to do further work on developing their Deanery Mission Plans.

  • Encourage greater collaboration among the clergy. They could co-lead deanery discipleship courses, arrange cover for one another for days off, retreats etc.

  • Chapters and Conferences should be a time for stimulation, encouragement, education and sharing good practice. Chapters could read (and discuss) a book together.

  • Can a deanery plant a church together if parishes lack resources?

  • Identify what a deanery can do together, that parishes are unable to do on their own. This requires moving from parochialism to a wider vision.

  • Work with our Church & Society Officer (The Revd Mark Lawson-Jones) to identify community needs and possible funding and partnerships.
