PART TWO: DEANERY MISSION PLANS

I am asking each Deanery to produce a Deanery Mission Plan that provides a vision for the future that is imaginative, realistic and sustainable.
Deaneries are encouraged to think ‘outside the box', that is not just to plan to keep the show on the road but to consider new ways of being the Church.

The Bishop’s charge for the deanery reviews

2.1 Introduction

We are grateful to the working groups in each deanery that produced the mission plans and for the additional time given by all who attended special deanery conferences to discuss and agree the plans. For some, it had meant the collecting, collating and analyzing of significant amounts of statistical material. The plans show clearly that the church in our diocese is a varied body of people and that the needs of the churches and the communities they serve are best met by a focussed response at the grass-roots level.

It would make this report exceptionally long if we reproduced each deanery document in full. This section should therefore be read with reference to the full report of your particular deanery plan. Our hope is that even these summaries will further encourage the ongoing debate that is essential if the church is to grow in our deaneries and in the diocese. It may well be that the limited information given here from other deanery plans will provide a direct challenge to your own deanery's thinking. For convenience we have placed the deaneries in alphabetical order.
