Living Faith News
Over a hundred people are now involved in Living Faith groups across the diocese. Groups started up in the Autumn in the parishes of Bedwellty, Blaenavon, Cyncoed, Cwmbran, Cwmcarn, Griffithstown, and Magor, and two deanery-wide groups in Newport. The first module, Spirituality and Prayer, looks at the wide range of spiritual traditions in the church. The Caldicot Benefice group has just completed its second module, New Testament.
The eleven sessions of Spirituality and Prayer cover a variety of Christian traditions, including the Desert Fathers, Celtic Christianity, the Benedictine and Franciscan traditions, the Orthodox church, the classical Anglican heritage of Cranmer and George Herbert, and contemporary Anglo Catholic and Evangelical spirituality. Each session gives background information and a ‘taster’ of the different spiritual traditions, giving you the opportunity to experience a wide range of ways in which Christians respond to God.
Later modules in the Living Faith programme include New Testament, Questions of Faith, Re-shaping Church, Old Testament, and Challenging Choices (ethics).
Several groups are now looking forward to starting their next module in January.
Living Faith - an exciting opportunity
The launch of Living Faith in Monmouth diocese is an exciting opportunity for people to learn more about their faith, and to share insights and experiences in the discussion groups.
