VISITATIONS 2009

Dear Friends,

We have decided not to engage in a visitation of the Deaneries at this time. We are, however, intending during the rest of the year to visit each Benefice in turn, spending some time with you and we are looking at ways in which our Visitations might be more helpful and beneficial to us all.

For example, we shall be not only looking at service registers, but also engaging in a discussion with the PCC of your MAP (Mission Action Plan) and meeting with Treasurers and Churchwardens to discuss finances. Where there is a ministry team we would like to engage in a discussion of your needs for ongoing training in order that we might all feel better equipped for the mission of the church in the future. We will also be renewing the licences of lay ministers. Our hope is that we shall all feel encouraged by this more personal approach.

In preparing for these visits we would be most grateful if you could arrange for  the following documents to be sent before the end of June to your appropriate Archdeacon:

  1. A copy of the latest Parish Report.
  2. A copy of the Audited Accounts for the year ending  31st. December 2008.
  3. A copy of your Parish MAP with any revisions.
  4. Completed Churchwardens Declarations (see below).

Please have available for collection at the Visitation, your Parish Child Protection Document. This will be returned to you after inspection by the Diocesan Child Protection Officer.

Enclosed with this letter are copies of the Declaration that all Churchwardens have to complete. We would be grateful if you could arrange as soon as possible for the Churchwardens to make their declarations before you and the congregation at a main morning service.

Arranging convenient dates for our visits will not be an easy task so we ask that you will be patient with us as we work our way around our Archdeaconries.

With every good wish,
Richard Pain                                                                    Glyndwr Hackett
Archdeacon of Monmouth                                                    Archdeacon of Newport.
