CLIMATE CHANGE - WHO'S IN CONTROL?
Alan Chadwick asks if there is a specifically Christian response
CLIMATE change has hit the headlines again. The events in Copenhagen, increased apathy and recent doubts about the trustworthiness of the scientific community have led to scepticism. For many of us, the issue seems too uncertain, too big and not a priority for us, individually or as church. But what is the right Christian response? Whatever it is, surely it cannot be indifference about the world God created and entrusted to humanity’s care. To help us think through these issues, Roose Deanery has invited Sir John Houghton to The Merlin Theatre at Pembrokeshire College in Haverfordwest. His presentation is on ‘Climate Change, its Science & the Christian response’, on 12 May at 7pm. It’s an open meeting, for the believer, the sceptic, the unsure, and those who just want to find out more. There will be an opportunity for questions and discussion. Sir John has a CV as long as your arm (“Google” him to find out more). Suffice it to say he has held very significant positions in the world of climate change. He is also a Welshman and serves as an elder at Aberdovey Presbyterian Church. For more information and for tickets email Alan Chadwick or phone him on 01646 692251. There should be tickets at the door, but it might be wise to check first.
