'Cadfan' stone.

This church dates from the early 6th century and has a nave with circular Norman pillars and clerestory windows. The original central tower fell down in 1692, and the west tower (built in 1736) was replaced by the present tower in 1884 on the original site.

The 9th century 'Cadfan' stone bears two inscriptions (both in Welsh) and are claimed to be the oldest recorded examples of the written language. There are also two 14th century stone carvings known as the 'Crying Knight' and the 'Un-named priest.' The knight's effigy (possibly that of Gruffudd ab Adda of Dôl-goch), has given rise to many stories as, during wet weather, his right eye seems to weep.
