12/15th century mediaeval building. Carved wooden rood screen. Dog tongs with date 1748. Oak chest with date 1667.
One of the most fascinating and best preserved mediaeval churches on the island.
Believed to be an early 'clas' church, possibly founded in the 6th century. The earliest surviving masonry dates from the 12th to the 15th century and has an unusual tower with a pyramidal spire on top. The interior of the church is noted for its wooden carvings and rood screen which features a painting of a skeleton.
A 14th century stone chapel, measuring 14.5ft x 12ft, is linked to the church by a passage.
