Items of Interest

Rebuilt in 1881 the building stands on the foundations of the old church. The date of the chapel is uncertain but the roof, although reconstucted, retains some of the old arch-braced trusses.

The font, dated 1737, is made from Penmon marble. On the north wall of the chapel is an inscribed stone which was dug up in the graveyard before 1742. Although badly mutilated this 6th century stone records the burial of the blessed 'Saturninus' and his wife.

Two late 15th century corbels, one of a human head with a Tudor cap and the other of a muzzled bear's head, are to be seen on the gable of the north chapel.

In front of the church is a modern Celtic cross dedicated to a victim of the Boer War.

In the churchyard an unusual headstone commemorates the Scottish geologist Sir Andrew Crombie Ramsay who pioneered the study of the rocks of North Wales.
