12th century font with Celtic inscription.
Dating from the 6th century this very ancient hospice church was used for worship by the pilgrims who paused to rest at the adjacent hospice whilst on their way to Bardsey Island. Before being slated, a little over a hundred years ago, the church was thatched and the rope-holes are still to be seen in the timbers. The font is of Celtic origin.
During Christmas, Easter and the early Lammas (Harvest) Festival wild medicinal herbs and rushes are laid on the floor.
Rupert Davies, the actor who played the original Maigret character on TV, was laid to rest in the churchyard in 1976.
