Founded in the 6th century. The present building dates from 1875/9 having been built from the original stones. The south door and the font, of three octagonal tiers, are 15th century. The church has a fine collection of 17th & 18th century monuments. In the churchyard stands a monument to five crew members of the local lifeboat who lost their lives during a fierce storm on December 3rd 1920 whilst trying to save the crew of the steamship 'Timbo.'
