Items of Interest

The church is built on a north-south orientation with the altar at the north end. It is believed that the oldest part of the church is the tower dating from the 14th century, but the old font would appear to pre-date this. In 1982 substantial reinforcing work was undertaken on the tower. The present font is Victorian. During 1864/5 extensive restoration work was carried out under the direction of the famous Victorian architect G. E. Street. Attractive inscribed oak paneling is of interest - a group of five, 17th century panels, of Adam and Eve surrounded by four beasts from the Book of Revelation and a remarkable carving representing three con-joined heads brought from Trefeglwys church at the time of restoration. (Application to Vicar for viewing).
