Built during the period 1856-60 on the site of a mediaeval church. This fine cruciform church, designed by Henry Kennedy of Bangor, was paid for by the 3rd Lord Newborough of Glynllifon as part of his replanning of the 'estate village' of Llandwrog.
The 110ft tower containing two bells, is a local landmark. It acts as a navigational mark over the Menai Strait. The church has an unaltered Victorian interior - the nave seating is unusual, being like that of a college chapel, ie., facing each other. Many 18th and 19th century monuments, most from the previous church, are on the walls of the building and an interesting window in the south wall is dedicated to 'Faith, Hope, Fortitude, Justice and Charity.' The oak lectern has a swivel top that can be turned according to which Bible is being used, Welsh or English. The beautiful reredos carries three painted pictures of Christ. Glynllifon Chapel is entered through a simple oak screen, again possibly from the old church, and contains many Gothic chairs and kneelers. Located under the chancel is the Glynllifon burial vault.
