Sponsor an Organ Pipe

4,000 organ pipes available £15 - £1,000

We have already raised over £100,000 for the restoration of the fine William Hill Organ in Bangor Cathedral, the largest pipe organ in Wales, thanks to the hard work and kind donations of so many people. The organ is an integral part of the spiritual and cultural heritage of Wales.

The last restoration was carried out in 1954 by John Compton and the organ has been in daily use for services, concerts and teaching purposes ever since. This continual use has taken its toll and on 31st July 2001 the organ was switched off to prevent irreparable damage.

To help on this last lap of the Appeal we are inviting individuals, families and companies to sponsor an organ pipe. The restored organ will have around 4,000 pipes ranging in size from 1/8inch to 32 feet. They come in various sizes and are made from both metal and wood.

A single pipe can be sponsored for as little as £15.

A whole rank, that is one stop consisting of 58 pipes will cost £1,000.

If you wish to gift aid your donation, please indicate this on the order form. This will allow the Cathedral to claim 28p from the Inland Revenue for each pound you donate.

All Sponsors will receive a certificate and will be listed in a book for posterity with their name against the particular pipe they have sponsored. This could be an ideal present for a child or grandchild, or in memory of someone.
