New Archdeacon, Canons and Transition Missioner
Bishop Gregory installed the Venerable Chris Potter as Archdeacon of St Asaph and the Venerable Bernard Thomas as an Honorary Canon before commissioning Revd Canon John Lomas as Transition Missioner during a busy Evensong at St Asaph Cathedral on Monday 12 September.
Chris takes over from Bernard as Archdeacon, while John's role is brand new to the life of the Diocese.
The former Vicar of Holywell will now work with parishes facing significant challenges - such as an interregnum - and help them to plan for the future and set goals for growth.
His first stop will be the Corwen group of parishes in the Deanery of Penllyn and Edeyrnion.
During his sermon, Bishop Gregory spoke from Matthew 4 - Jesus' temptations in the wilderness. He explained how all clergy can be tempted in similar ways, especially around power, performance and selfishness.

He went on to describe Bernard's ministry as one "packed full of joy" and with "confidence in Christ".
He said Chris is "a Priest sensitive to the needs of others and passionate about caring for individuals".
In John's ministry he said there is a Priest with "a vision for what the Church can be" and he explained how John wants to help build something bigger for the glory of God.
Before the installations and the commissioning, the Bishop reminded those present that each Priest is called to glorify God with their gifts and the Diocese should celebrate their ministries.

Archdeacon will also serve in Caerwys
Chris Potter will also serve as Rector of Caerwys and Bodfari alongside his new role as Archdeacon of St Asaph.
He was inducted in Caerwys on Thursday 25 August by the Venerable Bernard Thomas - Bernard's last induction before his retirement.
Bishop Gregory preached at the service and spoke of Chris' ministry flourishing in Caerwys. After the service the Bishop tweeted: "Inducted new Rector in Caerwys - great service, large congregation - double rainbow over the Church." We thought that rainbow looked so beautiful that we have a picture of it for you to enjoy here.
