The Parish As A Charity

All parishes are charities and are expected to comply with the requirements of charity law.

Parishes with an income of under £100,000 per year are 'excepted' from registration under the Charities (Exception from Registration) Regulations 1996.  They do not have a Charity Registration number.

Parishes with income of over £100,000 per year are required to register with the Charity Commission and will receive a Charity Registration number when their registration is completed.

This document gives guidance on the process and recommended timetable.
