General Information for Planning an Educational Visit

Group Responsibility

We ask that teachers and accompanying adults remain with the children and retain responsibility for discipline throughout the visit. Please ensure there is a ratio of at least one adult per group (ref. your county guidelines). Each workshop will be led by one of our volunteers

Parking and Coaches

The Cathedral has a pay & display car park for cars and mini-buses, however this is not suitable for coaches.  Drivers can drop the children off by the car park.

Lunch and toilet facilities

Toilets are available in the Dean's Library – the Cathedral's 'church hall' which is just across the road. Please note the main road needs strict adult supervision to cross (see risk assessment). For those staying a full day, the Dean's Library will be available for you to eat your packed lunch.

Inclusiveness and access

The Cathedral is committed to equal opportunities and access for all.  Please inform us of any special considerations or requirements relevant to your school’s visit. (See booking form)

Child protection

The welfare of children is of paramount importance to us.  The Cathedral has a Child Protection policy, which can be viewed on request.  All volunteers have enhanced CRB disclosure and have received advice on child protection procedures.

Health and Safety

Responsibility for health and safety is shared between the Cathedral and the School.  Please read the Risk Assessment for School Visits
